So geschehen in Wien, als Gebrüder Weiss und die ÖBB Rail Cargo Group im Mai ihre 30-jährige Partner schaft auf der Schiene feiern. Der Star des Ta ges: die feierlich getaufte Taurus-Lokomotive „Europa“, die ab sofort auf Strecken quer durch Zentraleuropa unterwegs ist. Mit der Eisenbahn verbunden ist Gebrüder Weiss aber nicht erst seit 30 Jahren. Schon ab 1853 führt der Logistiker erste Bahntrans porte in Süddeutschland durch, nämlich zwischen Lindau am Bodensee und der bayeri schen Landeshauptstadt München. Full steam ahead! Rather than a traffic ticket, how about the pro verbial “ticket to ride”? In May, Gebrüder Weiss and ÖBB Rail Cargo Group commemorate 30 years of partnership in Vienna. The star of the occasion: a Taurus-model locomotive – ceremonially christened “Europa” – which is now operating on routes across Central Europe. Gebrüder Weiss’ association with the railway goes back much further. As early as 1853, it was offering initial rail transport services in southern Germany – namely between the town of Lindau on the shores of Lake Constance and the Bavarian capital of Munich. Since then, Gebrüder Weiss has expanded its rail opera- tions on multiple occasions. The subsidiary GW Rail Cargo alone now moves up to 1.5 million
