1 USA Gebrüder Weiss is gradually ex- panding its presence in the USA. The opening of new locations in Laredo, Texas and Miami, and Florida will soon be followed by another in Salt Lake City, Utah. Here, the logistics company has acquired a small air and sea freight carrier who will support the expansion of transpacific and transatlantic transport ser- vices. Handily, the carrier is al- ready very well connected in the region and brings many years of experience in the air and sea freight business – including cus- toms handling. Salt Lake City is the eleventh Gebrüder Weiss location in the USA. 2 Armenia When will the first human set foot on Mars? In the not too distant future, if the Austrian Space Forum (ÖWF) has its way. In the desert region around Armash in Armenia, the ÖWF is conducting simulations for its fourteenth Mars expedition. Gebrüder Weiss will once again be the logistics partner for the AMADEE-24 mission, which means it is responsible for the safe transportation of sensitive research equipment via Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey and Georgia to the training site in Armenia. Despite the distance from its native Austria, the proj ect is actually quite close to home for Gebrüder Weiss; the logistics company has locations in all the countries concerned, and these are working closely with the team of experts for spe- cial transports based in Vienna, Austria. 3 Germany Konradsreuth, in the district of Hof in Bavaria, is a supplier of additional power for the land transport network in the south ern German region. With its ideal road, airport and rail links, the new Gebrüder Weiss loca- tion is a major logistics hub for land transport between eastern Europe and southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland. High- speed rail freight transport is possible via the container termi nal in Hof, which is situated directly on the route from Ham- burg via Leipzig to the Adriatic coast. For the logistics com- pany, Konradsreuth represents the realization of an important goal: an extensive network of Gebrüder Weiss branches rea- ching from southern to northern Bavaria.

1 USA Schritt für Schritt entwickelt Gebrüder Weiss seine Präsenz in den USA weiter. Nach den Standorteröffnungen in Laredo (Texas) und Miami (Florida) folgt jetzt ein neuer Standort in Salt Lake City (Utah). Dort hat der Logistiker eine kleine Luft- und Seefrachtspedition übernom- men, die den Ausbau der trans- pazifischen und -atlantischen Verkehre unterstützen wird. Von Vorteil: Die Spedition ist in der Region bereits sehr gut vernetzt und bringt langjährige Erfahrung im Luft- und Seefrachtgeschäft inklusive Zollabwicklung mit. Salt Lake City ist der elfte Stand- ort von Gebrüder Weiss in den USA. 2 Armenien Wann wird der erste Mensch den Mars betreten? Wenn es nach dem Österreichischen Weltraum Forum (ÖWF) geht, schon in nicht allzu ferner Zukunft. In der Wüstenregion um Armash in Armenien simuliert der ÖWF deshalb seine 14. Marsexpedi tion. Logistikpartner ist erneut Gebrüder Weiss und damit verantwortlich für den siche- ren Transport der sensiblen Forschungsausrüstung über Ungarn, Serbien, Bulgarien, die Türkei und Georgien bis zum armenischen Trainingsgelän- de. Für den Logistiker ist das Projekt fast schon ein Heim- spiel, denn in allen Ländern gibt es eigene Standorte, die eng mit dem Expertenteam für Spezial- transporte in Wien kooperieren. 3 Deutschland Zusätzliche Power für das Land- verkehrsnetz in Bayern kommt aus Konradsreuth im Landkreis Hof in Süddeutschland. Die ideale Anbindung an Autobahn, Flughafen und Bahn prädesti- niert den neuen Standort von Gebrüder Weiss als wichtiges Logistikdrehkreuz: für Land- transporte zwischen Osteuropa und Süddeutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz. Ein schneller Schienengüterverkehr ist über das Containerterminal in Hof möglich, das direkt auf der Route von Hamburg über Leipzig bis zur Adria liegt. Mit Konradsreuth hat der Logistiker ein wichti- ges Ziel erreicht: ein flächen- deckendes Netzwerk eigener Niederlassungen von Süd- bis Nordbayern.

5 Australien Ambitioniert ist Gebrüder Weiss auch in Australien und eröffnet mit Brisbane die dritte Nieder- lassung (nach Sydney und Melbourne). Die Hauptstadt des Bundesstaates Queensland im Nordosten des Kontinents hat einen großen Containerhafen, der eine bedeutende Rolle im internationalen Handel spielt. Ein guter Ausgangspunkt für neue Geschäftsbeziehungen: Im Fo- kus stehen die Bereiche Ma- schinen, Landwirtschaft und medizinische Geräte. Australien ist Teil des südostasiatischen Netzwerks von Gebrüder Weiss, zu dem außerdem die Guang- dong-Region, Hongkong, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapur, Taiwan und Neusee- land gehören. 6 Chile Nicht bis zum Mars, aber doch hoch hinaus wollte das Ge- brüder Weiss Peak Evolution- Team – und hat es geschafft! Drei Schweizer fuhren mit ihrem selbst entwickelten Solar-Lkw bis auf eine Höhe von 6.500 Metern am steilen Felshang des Ojos del Salado in Chile, des höchsten aktiven Vulkans der Erde. Damit haben die mutigen Visionäre einen neuen Höhen- weltrekord für Elektrofahrzeuge aufgestellt und die Leistungs- fähigkeit des umweltfreundlichen Antriebs bewiesen. Gebrüder Weiss hat das zukunftsweisende Projekt als Hauptsponsor und Logistikpartner maßgeblich unterstützt.
6 Chile It may not have been a mission to Mars, but the Gebrüder Weiss Peak Evolution Team were cer- tainly aiming high. For the three Swiss adventurers involved, it was a case of “mission accom- plished”, as they guided their self-developed solar-powered truck 6,500 meters (21,325 feet) up the steep rocky ridges of Ojos del Salado in Chile – the highest active volcano on earth. In so doing, the intrepid visio- naries set a new world altitude record for an electric vehicle and successfully demonstrated the capability of the environ- ment-friendly drive system. As main sponsor and logistics partner, Gebrüder Weiss provid ed substantial support for this forward-looking project. 7 Czech Republic With its web of logistics hubs across central and eastern Europe, Gebrüder Weiss can offer customers short lead times and efficient logistics solutions from a single source. It’s a convincing proposition for many, including NKD. The German clothing retailer has moved away from supplying its branches in the Czech Repu- blic directly from Germany and now uses the Gebrüder Weiss location near Prague as a dis tribution center instead. The improvement in the logistics process was so impressive that NKD is now also employing Gebrüder Weiss services in Slovenia and Croatia.
4 China High capacity utilization is a de- fining feature of freight trans- portation on China’s railways. Securing large freight capacities is therefore a challenge. But it is one the logistics experts at Ge- brüder Weiss in Shanghai have a happy habit of meeting – as the CP Group, a large international corporation based in Thailand, can testify. Our intermodal team organized more than 300 open top rail containers for the cus- tomer to transport 10,000 tons of barley from eastern China to a distillery in southwest China. 1,500 kilometers (932 miles) later, the grain had reached its destination and work was under- way on another 10,000-ton order. 5 Australia Gebrüder Weiss also has big plans in Australia, opening its third branch in the country (after Sydney and Melbourne) in Brisbane. The state capital of Queensland, in the north east of the country, is home to a large container port that plays a significant role in international trade. So it’s a good place to forge new business relation- ships – notably in the areas of machinery, agriculture and medical equipment. Australia is part of Gebrüder Weiss’ south east Asian network, which also includes Guangdong Province, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and New Zealand.
7 Tschechien Mit seinen vielen Logistikhubs in Mittel- und Osteuropa kann Gebrüder Weiss Kunden kurze Laufzeiten und effiziente Lo- gistiklösungen aus einer Hand anbieten. Das hat auch den deutschen Textileinzelhändler NKD überzeugt und ihn bewo- gen, seine Filialen in Tschechien nicht mehr direkt von Deutsch- land aus beliefern zu lassen, sondern stattdessen den Gebrü- der Weiss-Standort bei Prag als Distributionszentrum zu nutzen. Die Verbesserung des Logistik- prozesses war so überzeugend, dass NKD nun auch in Slowe- nien und Kroatien auf Gebrüder Weiss setzt. 8 Malaysia Man soll die Feste feiern, wie sie fallen, heißt es. Doch bei Ge brüder Weiss geht der Kunde vor. Als das weltweit größte Unter- nehmen für Erdölexplorations- und Ölfeldservice während des Chinesischen Neujahrsfestes dringend einen Logistikpartner sucht, ist Gebrüder Weiss zur Stelle. Befördert werden soll schweres Ölfeldequipment, da runter ein 18 Tonnen schweres Packstück, von Singapur zur Ostküste Malaysias. Trotz extre- men Zeitdrucks und vielfältiger Einschränkungen aufgrund der Feiertage, gelingt Gebrüder Weiss Malaysia die reibungslose Transportabwicklung. Ein guter Start ins neue Jahr!

8 Malaysia Some say that “holidays should be celebrated on the days on which they fall”. At Gebrüder Weiss, we say: “The customer comes first”. So when the world’s largest oil exploration and oil- field services company sent out an urgent call for a logistics partner during the Chinese New Year festivities, a team from Gebrüder Weiss put its cel ebrations on ice. Heavy oilfield equipment, including an 18-ton consignment, needed to be transported from Singapore to the east coast of Malaysia. De- spite extreme time pressure and myriad restrictions caused by the public holidays, Gebrüder Weiss Malaysia ensured the ship- ment arrived without a hitch. Now that’s what you call a good start to the year!
4 China Hohe Auslastung kennzeichnet den Güterverkehr der chinesi schen Bahn. Große Frachtka pazitäten zu bekommen, ist da- her eine Herausforderung. Die Logistikexperten von Gebrüder Weiss in Shanghai machen das dennoch immer wieder möglich – so auch für die thailändische CP-Gruppe, einen internationa len Großkonzern. Mehr als 300 Open-Top-Bahncontainer orga nisierte das Intermodalteam für den Kunden, um 10.000 Ton- nen Gerste von Ostchina zu einer Brennerei in Südwestchina zu transportieren. Nach 1.500 Kilometern war das Getreide am Ziel und der Folgeauftrag über weitere 10.000 Tonnen in Planung.
