Wrap
Wrap is incredibly versatile. Made from materials like aluminum and plastic, it can be transparent or almost any color. Properties such as its light weight, flexibil ity and the protection it offers against moisture, gases and microorganisms make wrap an important material in the logis tics business. In recent years, material science has made major advances in the development of new, higher-performance or eco-friendlier wraps. Bio-based wrap made from corn, potatoes or sugar cane is now available, for example, while “smart” wrap monitors the freshness of food stuffs and changes color if the contents start to spoil. Gebrüder Weiss mainly uses wrap to pro- tect delicate cargo in the Air&Sea business. Wrapping machines are used to package these goods. While the wrap is expensive, used wrap is still of value and is collected for recycling in special wrap bins.
