Oil
Oil is essential for smooth- running logistics. A forklift can’t drive around the transhipment facility without hydraulic oil, and a truck can’t leave the yard with out engine oil. In fact, vehicles and manufacturing industry as a whole are the two biggest users of lubricants. As the name sug gests, lubricants are used for lubrication, i.e., to reduce friction and wear. They also act as cool ants and sealants, dampen vi brations and prevent corrosion. Global demand for lubricants is projected to rise slightly in the medium term by an average of 0.8 percent a year between now and 2027. The biggest rise is expected to occur in North and South America. Gebrüder Weiss has a global fleet of around 2,000 forklifts. The vehicles are given a pre ventative oil change every three to four years to reduce wear and extend their lives as much as possible.
