ATLAS 21 - Material

Electricity Strictly speaking, energy can be neither created nor destroyed: the quantity of energy in the uni verse today is exactly the same as billions of years ago. And it will continue to remain unchanged in future. Energy can only be converted from one form to an other and thereby made available and used for specific purposes. Converting light energy into electrical energy in particular is of great importance from the point of view of energy supply – after all, the sun radiates vast quantities of energy to Earth. Gebrüder Weiss already uses self- generated solar power to cover three quarters of its electricity requirements in the D-A-CH re- gion. For example, the exchange able batteries for industrial trucks can be charged to a large extent with power from the sun. Gebrüder Weiss already uses e-vans to de liver goods ordered online to end customers in Austria, Hungary, Croatia and Romania. Two battery-electric trucks will also make their debut in Germany this year, while fur- ther e-trucks and e-delivery vehicles will be purchased in Austria.
