Foreword by the Management Board
Dear Readers,
“We’re on the way” – on the road to greater sustainability, with clear objectives and a binding framework. The basis for this is provided by our sustainability strategy GWcares, which is founded on three pillars: economy, people and the environment. The impacts of climate change demand forward-looking action. 2024 was a year of important turning points for us: we revised our climate strategy and defined new environmental targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The emissions we cause are now set to be reduced by up to 60 percent by 2034. Our long-term goal is to achieve net zero emissions along the entire value chain by 2050. We are currently focusing on a variety of measures to reduce our emissions: the increasing use of electric vehicles in delivery operations, the conversion of the majority of our truck fleet in Austria to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO100) and the expansion of renewable energies. In 2024, 34 photovol- taic systems generated 13,000 megawatt-hours of electricity, which is equivalent to around half of the electricity demand at our locations around the world.

History The roots of Gebrüder Weiss stretch all the way back to the end of the Middle Ages. It is well documented that the institu- tion of the Lindau Messengers, also known as the Milanese Courier, was already up and running by the year 1487. These accredited couriers, who included in their number direct ancestors of today’s proprietor families, traversed the Alps on horseback, providing a weekly courier service and enabling important trade relations to be established in the transalpine region. Over the centuries that followed, this courier service gradually developed into a global transport and logistics en- terprise. With a history dating back over 500 years, Gebrüder Weiss is today the world’s oldest logistics company.
Ownership structure Gebrüder Weiss Holding AG is owned exclusively by the Weiss and Jerie families. This ownership structure allows de- cisions to be made swiftly and independently while maintain- ing the character of a family-owned business – despite the company’s global presence. There has always been a strong sense of identification of the shareholders with the compa - ny. With Wolfram Senger-Weiss, a family member serves as CEO. Multiple shareholders are also represented on the supervisory board.

Strategy What are we doing to promote sustainability?
SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2024
9
Strategy As an international transport and logistics enterprise, Gebrüder Weiss bears a responsibility for global procurement and supply chains. We recognize that the role we play here is of major business and economic importance. At the same time, we take responsibility for the environmental and social impacts caused by transporting millions of consignments every year. And we take this responsibility seriously: through our sus- tainability strategy GWcares , we face up to these challenges and sharpen our awareness of our exposed role in society. Our strategy is based on three pillars – economy, people and environment – and is comprehensive in its scope, pursues ambitious goals and sets a clear direction for our activities. GWcares helps us here as we constantly develop our com- pany, formulate transparent targets, make necessary invest- ments with specific objectives in mind and openly communi - cate what we have achieved. One of our key strategic steps in 2024 was switching to the cli- mate goals of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). We have thus anchored our commitment to climate protection on a new, internationally recognized foundation. The SBTi targets now cover all branches around the world as well as the entire value chain for the first time. In this way, we are creating a robust basis for Group-wide transparency, strengthening our cooperation with relevant climate initiatives and offering our customers increasingly resource-efficient logistics solutions.
We’re on the way.
Strategy

Economy Gebrüder Weiss is the oldest logistics company in the world. For over 500 years, we have pursued a business model that is geared toward long-term stability and sustainable growth – not toward maximizing profits in the short term. Our financial independence gives us the freedom to invest in sustainable solutions for our customers. In an increasingly volatile geopolitical environment, we are focused on strengthening the resilience of our supply chains. We continuously invest in developing our transport services to be even more sustainable – on the road, on the railways and in intercontinental air and sea freight. We use targeted digital innovations in order to further our efficiency, focus on the customer and comply with the law while taking into account our environmental and social respon- sibility.
People Around 8,600 people in 35 countries work at Gebrüder Weiss. Protecting their rights, supporting them and treating them with respect are matters of course for us as a family-run company. We understand knowledge to be a strategic resource. We offer needs-driven training and development formats through our own learning platform “myOrangeCollege.” At Gebrüder Weiss, young people receive vocational training that leads to a professional qualification, while we also work closely with educational institutions. Diversity, equal opportunities and non-discrimination are integral elements of our corporate culture. They enhance not only the personal development of our employees, but also the company’s ability to innovate. We create a working environ- ment built on respect and motivation in order to attract skilled workers and retain them over the long term.
Environment As an international logistics company, we are very aware of the impacts our business activity has on the environment. The central contribution to climate protection that we make lies in reducing energy consumption and emissions. This is why we are gradually converting our vehicle fleet to alternative drive systems and fuels. At the same time, we are expanding our use of photovoltaic plants on our buildings and minimiz- ing the use of fossil fuels, through the use of heat pumps, for example. Our climate targets are guided by scientifically recognized standards of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) – which allows us to measure and verify the progress we are making in protecting the climate.
Strategy
11
We’re on the way.
We collect the emissions data on energy and fuel consumption from all of our locations – from large logistics centers in Vienna down to smaller offices in Singapore or Tirana for example. It is a complex task, but transparency is a prerequisite for making improvements, for example by using renewable energy or alternative drive technologies.

Material topics
The objective was to systematically identify and prioritize the sustainability issues that are most important for us and our stakeholders. The topics addressed in the sustainability report were broken down into the areas of economy, people and environment based on the “three pillars of sustainability.”
A comprehensive materiality analysis was carried out for the previous certified Gebrüder Weiss sustainability report in 2021. The methodology included a wide-ranging employee survey and qualitative interviews with key stakeholders, such as customers, business partners and other external interest groups.
The current materiality matrix was reviewed by internal and external specialists in the course of the 2024 sustainability report. The analysis confirmed that no material changes in the relevance of the issues identified have arisen since 2021. The priorities that were set at that time thus continue to apply. Moreover, other topics going beyond the materiality analysis have been added to the current sustainability report.

Stakeholders For the materiality analysis, representatives of the stakeholder groups specified below were surveyed in November 2021 using an online tool. These same stakeholder groups continue to be relevant for the 2024 sustainability report.
Ethics and integration Gebrüder Weiss introduced a Code of Conduct back in 2012 that sets out our binding ethical principles. It defines clear rules for how we interact with each other every day – both within the company and also in our relations with customers, partners and suppliers. We are committed to fair competition, social responsibility and the protection of the environment. We emphatically reject discrimination, child labor and breaches of human rights. At the same time, we institute measures to ensure occupational health and safety and to protect the environment. These stan- dards are applied at all locations around the world. All employees regularly complete online training on compli- ance and ethics, which provides employees not only with knowledge, but also space to offer feedback and propose concrete suggestions for improvements.
Reporting practice The sustainability report relates to the national and interna- tional freight forwarding, road and rail transport, air and sea freight, customs clearance and logistics services of Gebrüder Weiss. This report covers the period from January 1, 2024 to 31 December, 2024. It will be published on the Gebrüder Weiss homepage by September 1, 2025 and updated there every three years. The sustainability report is published in line with the financial report and covers the same period. There were no significant changes to the organization or supply chain during the report- ing period. The previous sustainability report of Gebrüder Weiss certi- fied in accordance with the GRI was published in 2021. The current 2024 sustainability report was produced by Gebrüder Weiss Ges.m.b.H. in accordance with the currently applicable GRI Standards (“core” option) in cooperation with c7-consult and Baschnegger Ammann Partner. The report was audited externally by the Bureau Veritas and approved by the Man - agement Board of Gebrüder Weiss.

Bureau Veritas Austria was commissioned by the head of the central quality and environmental management of Gebrüder Weiss Gesellschaft m.b.H, to review the content of the sustainability report of Gebrüder Weiss Gesellschaft m.b.H. for the reporting year 2024 on the basis of the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative 2021 (GRI) – in particular the general requirements for "core" reporting. In particular, the audit included the assessment of compliance with the current GRI Standards (19.05.2025) for reporting as well as the random review of selected key performance indicators,

The environmental key figures for the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) were randomly checked in the databases ("Applications Portal" and “Emission Performance Monitor” (EPM). Furthermore, the test reports of the Science-Based Targets (SBTi) were also consulted for review. Key figures from the areas of economics, if they are part of the reported annual financial statements, have been taken into account on the basis of the audits already carried out by the auditors. On the basis of the audits carried out, no facts have been identified that lead to the assumption that the report does not meet the general requirements of the GRI Standards in material respects.

Ongoing development with responsibility As an international logistics company dealing with complex tasks in a dynamic environment, we are constantly moving for- ward in our ongoing development – in technical, organization- al and cultural terms. Short-term trends are not the focus here. Instead, we concentrate on viable forward-looking solutions: for our customers, for our employees and for a sustainable future. Our decisions are based on clear principles. Four values guide the actions we take every day: Service Excellence, i.e. the requirement to provide the best services for our cus- tomers; Independence, which allows us to think long term; Sustainability as a corporate responsibility for the environment and society; and Commitment – a clear dedication to reliability and engagement in everything we do.

With an equity ratio of 61.6 percent (as of fiscal 2024), Gebrüder Weiss enjoys a solid financial base. This stability provides us with the necessary independence and flexibility to act with a long-term perspective and with the future in mind – in the interests of our customers, employees, owners and partners.

Actively designing resilience
Global crises, political tensions and volatile markets place high requirements on the management of international supply chains. To be able to ensure quick and targeted responses, Gebrüder Weiss operates its own Situation Center, where we continuously analyze risks, assess their impacts and derive specific actions to counter them – with the aim of maintaining security of supply for our customers at all times. Customer satisfaction in focus We regularly measure the satisfaction of our customers with our services – with structured surveys, systematic feedback management and detailed evaluations. In this way, we can identify changes in their requirements at an early stage and make targeted improvements to our services. Our aim: to continue to be consistently reliable, focused on solutions and live up to our customers’ expectations. Reviewing effectiveness, refining strategy We regularly review whether our measures are having the desired effect – by means of internal evaluations such as the financial report and the annual compliance report. We use the insights gained from these evaluations in a targeted way to continuously scrutinize and refine our strategic direction.
Economic performance The stability and performance of Gebrüder Weiss is also evident in a difficult market environment: the 2024 fiscal year closed with net sales of € 2.71 billion. This corresponds to a year-on-year increase of 10.1 percent (2023: € 2.46 billion). Despite geopolitical and economic tensions, we gained market share in 2024 and thus bucked the trend by recording growth. By investing in our network, in automation and digital innova- tions, we are expanding our range of services and developing the right solutions for our customers – with the clear aim of guaranteeing stable supply chains.
Procurement and value creation
Gebrüder Weiss makes targeted investment in its infrastructure and thereby contributes to the economic development of the regions in which we operate. We prefer to work here with local suppliers and service providers and to strengthen regional value chains in this way. With a contract volume of € 100 million, the construction of our new logistics and IT center in Wolfurt, Austria, represented one of the largest investments in the 2024 reporting year. Sustain- able building materials and energy-efficient technologies were used and installed during the construction. In addition, our locations create employment and training opportunities for people on site. We are engaged in training programs, cooperate with educational institutions and support local projects – as an employer and as an integral part of the regional economy.

How can we make the switch to climate-friendly transport solutions?
We’re on the way.
Gebrüder Weiss actively promotes the transition to sustainable transport in particular by investing in alternative drive technologies, clever mobility concepts and modern logistics facilities. Innovative technologies are one thing – but we need economic actors, politicians and society to work together if we want to make real progress.

Land transport Road freight transport
Gebrüder Weiss is pursuing a clear strategy to reduce CO 2 emissions in land transport. This includes gradually expand- ing our European vehicle fleet with alternative drive systems and increasingly shifting transport services to the railroads. In addition, we are investing in the use of HVO100 – an alterna - tive fuel that we are using as a bridging technology in order to operate our existing fleets in a more climate-friendly way in the immediate future. A total of 14 electric trucks of the N3 vehicle category (> 12 tonnes) and three electric shunting vehicles will be put into service in Austria by 2025. In parallel with this, we are install- ing powerful fast charging infrastructure at our locations. Other low-emission vehicles are already in use in Central and Eastern Europe today – especially in the area of last-mile delivery, general cargo shipments and regular shipping and distribution services. The vehicle fleet of Gebrüder Weiss cur - rently comprises 403 vehicles and uses the following alterna- tive technologies:
ability of alternative vehicles and long delivery times present additional hurdles.
The Orange Combi Cargo (OCC) has operated as a unit train between Vienna and Bludenz for more than one and a half de - cades. Since it was introduced in 2008, this resource-efficient service has already saved more than 225,000 truck journeys on Austriaʼs roads. Another flagship in the rail activities of Gebrüder Weiss is the container terminal of the Tyrolean road-rail transship- ment company TSSU (Tiroler Straße-Schiene-Umschlag- gesellschaft mbH). For a quarter of a century, the container terminal located in Hall in Tyrol has served not only as an important transshipment terminal, but also as a rail freight forwarder for products carried by train in intermodal transport between Scandinavia and Italy as well as for traffic connec - tions within Austria. Our East Plus competence center and our intermodal team in China plan intercontinental rail shipments far beyond Europe’s borders. The transport services to and from China running through Central Asia along the New Silk Road are an attrac- tive alternative to air or sea freight between Europe and the Far East. Gebrüder Weiss offers its customers numerous attractive options for transporting goods by rail. Our rail experts design solutions that are tailored to the individual requirements of our customers and that can also include pre-carriage and on-carriage.
Gebrüder Weiss therefore follows an approach that is open to various technologies. In addition to electric and hydrogen drive systems, we use HVO100 (hydrotreated vegetable oil), a synthetic diesel fuel made from plant waste that can reduce emissions by up to 90 percent. In Austria, 30 percent of the company’s vehicle fleet already uses this bridging technology. The extensive Europe-wide availability of HVO100 for heavy goods vehicle traffic is not yet assured, however. The success of this sustainable transformation is based on a cooperative partnership. Central business divisions and spe- cialist operating departments are working closely together with authorities, special interest groups and manufacturers and infrastructure partners to design transport logistics that are fit for the future. Rail freight transport Gebrüder Weiss has organized efficient and sustainable rail transportation for customers from the most varied of industrial sectors for many years. Based in Maria Lanzendorf near Vi - enna, Gebrüder Weiss Rail Cargo, as a rail freight forwarder, focuses on the chartering of freight cars. At peak times, 1.5 million tonnes of goods are transported in 160 unit trains each month.

The switch to low-emission technologies comes with chal- lenges. Electric trucks are currently around three times more expensive than their diesel counterparts. Added to this are high investments in charging infrastructure, such as transform- ers, charging stations and structural modifications. Applying for government subsidies is a complex process, but essential if the transition is to be economically viable. The limited avail-

Air and sea freight A key lever for reducing emissions from air or sea transport is the use of insetting measures – i.e. the use of sustainable fuels within the same transport sector. Insetting involves alternative fuels: sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for air freight and sustainable marine fuel (SMF) for sea freight. These fuels enable significant reductions in CO 2 emis- sions compared with conventional products. Transactions are processed in accordance with the book and claim principle: customers can have the CO 2 emission reductions that are generated by the use of alternative fuels credited to their shipments. The emissions saved are then cal- culated and allocated to the shipment that was booked – re- gardless of whether the fuel was actually used in the transport in question or in another transport. This method enables up to
100 percent of Scope 3 emissions to be reduced for reporting purposes; sustainable transport can then also be supported in this way when direct use is not technically or logistically possible. For sea freight, Gebrüder Weiss acquires quotas in biofuel in- setting certificates. Insetting certificates are also available to a limited extent – depending on the specific airlines and routes – in air freight. Gebrüder Weiss will offer its customers a consistent book and claim solution that also includes land transport in the course of 2025.
We’re on the way .
We offer our customers the option to offset the greenhouse gas emissions of their sea freight shipments and thus both to promote the use of sustainable fuels and improve their own Scope 3 emissions.

Standardized logistics processes With the rollout of the standardized oWMS warehouse man- agement system at all logistics locations worldwide, Gebrüder Weiss is setting new benchmarks in efficiency and quality. Thanks to digital and automated processes, customers benefit from greater transparency, quicker workflows and individual, customized service. A standardized solution enables sus- tainable optimization of the warehouse logistics – a key step toward enhanced process quality and customer orientation.
Digitalization and automation Gebrüder Weiss is taking advantage of the opportunities presented by digitalization and artificial intelligence to sustainably de - velop its products, services and processes. myGW – the digital customer portal Gebrüder Weiss is using digitalization to design service processes to be more efficient. The self-service customer portal myGW has been continuously developed and refined since it was introduced in 2020. One of the features it provides
allows customers to book and track shipments in real time, while an integrated chat platform enables focused communi- cation. Over 10,000 customers with almost 25,000 users are now using the customer portal. Internally, “myGW for Employ- ees” provides support to customer service staff.
AutoStore With the automated small parts storage and retrieval system AutoStore, Gebrüder Weiss is optimizing its warehouse space, efficiency and service quality. The system is currently used at the Budapest location. Plastic containers are automatically stored by robots and provided for picking – in a way that is quick, saves space and uses energy efficiently. The use of the system will be trialled at other locations. Cargometer The digital freight dimensioning system Cargometer calculates the dimensions of packages while vehicles are being loaded and unloaded. This creates a foundation for improved truck ca- pacity utilization and route planning as well as accelerated pro- cessing. Moreover, empty cargo space can be avoided, which means in turn that environmental impacts can be reduced and costs can be saved. The system is currently in operation at 102 loading bays at 15 branches. Use of the system will continue to be expanded.

Artificial intelligence (AI) Gebrüder Weiss uses AI to improve processes, employ re- sources more efficiently and support decisions with data. Ex - amples of specific applications include forecasts of shipment volumes, early identification of disruptions in supply chains and automated assistance systems for employees. A Group-wide AI strategy establishes clear general conditions for this – with ethical guidelines, defined fields of use and re - quirements relating to data protection, IT security and training. The aim is to actively help shape the responsible use of AI. Customer CO 2 reporting Gebrüder Weiss uses the EcoTransIT software to calculate transport-related emissions. We make the results – on energy consumption, CO 2 emissions and air pollutants – available to our customers in easy-to-read dashboards and reports. The calculations are based on science-based methods and fulfill the EU requirements on CO 2 transparency at the customer and Group level. One challenge remains the use of secondary data, which does not always reflect actual circumstances. We take different requirements relating to data quality and level of detail into ac- count in an optimal way – and incorporate them in the further development of our CO 2 reporting.
Risk prevention in the digital world Increasing digitalization is also accompanied by an increase in the requirements for data protection and information security. Gebrüder Weiss protects its IT systems in accordance with the highest standards and is certified under ISO 27001. A particu - lar focus is placed on handling personal data responsibly. We consistently implement the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and all relevant national data protection laws. This is ensured by trained contact persons in the specialist departments as well as an extensive training program.
Gebrüder Weiss has defined a uniform construction standard for all new build projects worldwide – with clear requirements for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. This standard includes the use of heat pumps, photovoltaic systems and energy-efficient construction materials as well as green spaces. These criteria also serve as a guideline for modernization projects so that we can keep our buildings fit for the future and ensure they comply with climate and envi- ronment protection principles. An example of this is the location in Straubing, which was opened in 2024. The new facility has been built consistently in accordance with our sustainability standard and is fitted with a photovoltaic system, heat pumps and fast charging stations for electric trucks and cars. The location symbolizes our deter- mination to make targeted investments in sustainable logistics infrastructure.
