Economy Gebrüder Weiss is the oldest logistics company in the world. For over 500 years, we have pursued a business model that is geared toward long-term stability and sustainable growth – not toward maximizing profits in the short term. Our financial independence gives us the freedom to invest in sustainable solutions for our customers. In an increasingly volatile geopolitical environment, we are focused on strengthening the resilience of our supply chains. We continuously invest in developing our transport services to be even more sustainable – on the road, on the railways and in intercontinental air and sea freight. We use targeted digital innovations in order to further our efficiency, focus on the customer and comply with the law while taking into account our environmental and social respon- sibility.
People Around 8,600 people in 35 countries work at Gebrüder Weiss. Protecting their rights, supporting them and treating them with respect are matters of course for us as a family-run company. We understand knowledge to be a strategic resource. We offer needs-driven training and development formats through our own learning platform “myOrangeCollege.” At Gebrüder Weiss, young people receive vocational training that leads to a professional qualification, while we also work closely with educational institutions. Diversity, equal opportunities and non-discrimination are integral elements of our corporate culture. They enhance not only the personal development of our employees, but also the company’s ability to innovate. We create a working environ- ment built on respect and motivation in order to attract skilled workers and retain them over the long term.
Environment As an international logistics company, we are very aware of the impacts our business activity has on the environment. The central contribution to climate protection that we make lies in reducing energy consumption and emissions. This is why we are gradually converting our vehicle fleet to alternative drive systems and fuels. At the same time, we are expanding our use of photovoltaic plants on our buildings and minimiz- ing the use of fossil fuels, through the use of heat pumps, for example. Our climate targets are guided by scientifically recognized standards of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) – which allows us to measure and verify the progress we are making in protecting the climate.
