Situation Center It is crucial for Gebrüder Weiss as a logistics company that it complies with legal requirements and also meets custom- er expectations reliably at all times. A prerequisite for this is having a comprehensive picture of the situation involving possible risks, disruptions and incidents – in real time. At the company's in-house Situation Center, we are constant- ly working on minimizing risks that are within our control. By doing so, we enhance our operational resilience and at the same time secure a strategic advantage over the competition. We are currently implementing an internal IT solution for real-time reporting of significant incidents in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). The plan is to roll out the application throughout the Group in the future and to provide it on a centralized basis to all internal stakeholders. The Sit- uation Center thus also plays a role in sustainability – thanks to early warning mechanisms that help us deploy resources efficiently and avoid waste. We see challenges in particular in incomplete compliance with reporting requirements, in capacity constraints and also in technical dependencies within the system landscape. We counter these risks by conducting specialized training cours- es, expanding our human resources and performing regular function tests in order to ensure the system’s effectiveness.
Business continuity management (BCM)
The system is constantly being refined – through regular tests, analyses, training and insights gained from real incidents. The BCM processes are systematically reviewed and assessed at least once a year and also if significant changes are made. Gebrüder Weiss is aware that, despite all the precautions that are taken, IT systems are subject to a residual risk. Con- sidering the systems from a purely technical perspective is not enough here – our BCM therefore adopts an integrated approach that combines technical and organizational aspects. The central stakeholders in BCM are internal management and also our customers, whose requirements we actively incorporate in the structure.
Gebrüder Weiss pursues the goal of maintaining or restoring as quickly as possible the operation of its IT systems also in the event of unforeseen disruptions. To this end, we imple- ment company-wide business continuity management (BCM) with a focus on the DACH region. Our BCM aims to strengthen our organizational resilience to operational disruptions and at the same time to reliably fulfill all legal and customer requirements. It creates the basis for sustainable, secure and efficient resource management.
