How does Gebrüder Weiss promote learning and development?
Knowledge as a valuable resource within the company
We involve three groups here: ― Employees, who help design training programs ― External partners, who facilitate a broad range of training opportunities ― Customers, who encounter well-trained contact persons
Knowledge and expertise form the central basis for our com- pany’s success. That is why we make targeted investments in training and development – involving a wide variety of formats, practical contents and a culture that encourages learning. Digital learning formats such as e-learning and microlearn- ing are fixed and integral elements of our learning strategy. They facilitate individual, needs-based learning in our day- to-day work – in short, easily processed units. In addition, we promote networking between employees in order to share knowledge and strengthen cross-divisional cooperation. The learning programs we offer are tailored to different target groups and combine digital tools with face-to-face exchanges. Regular needs analyses and feedback help us to refine and customize the contents. Managers play an active role by facili- tating and specifically encouraging learning in the teams. We make sure successes are clear to see – for example in the form of certificates or internal career advancements. We boost motivation, the willingness to learn and the ability to tackle new challenges in this way. Targeted training and development management reduces the risk that we will face a shortage of skills and safeguards our business relationships.

In 2024, 6,418 employees undertook a total of 65,650 hours of further training. Industrial staff took part in 5,652 hours of learning. The average number of hours was disproportionately high in 2023 as a result of the need to catch up on training caused by the Covid-19 restrictions. The figure fell slightly in 2024, as some learning content is relevant only every two years and the launch of new training subjects was still in preparation.
