Occupational health and safety management system Gebrüder Weiss has added ISO Standard 45001 to its inte - grated management system. Alongside a minimum standard for planning, management and monitoring processes, we thus ensure compliance with local statutory regulations. All employees at certified locations who work in relevant areas are covered by this. Regular risk analyses and safety assess- ments are carried out for activities that involve potential haz- ards. Employees are required to comply with measures and to report irregularities. OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) officers evaluate workplaces, conduct safety inspections and advise employees about occupational safety issues as well as statutory worker protection requirements. They also maintain a constant dialog with other prevention specialists, such as the safety officers and occupational health professionals, to ensure integrated health and safety solutions in the company. The system is continually being improved.
Hazard identification, risk assessment and incident investigation Work-related hazards are identified through regular workplace evaluations (at least once a year) and safety walks conducted by the safety officers. Ultimate responsibility for control measures lies with the Man- agement Board, which also defines the HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality) strategy. The relevant management teams assume this responsibility at the national companies.
The local HSEQ officers provide support in the coordination and implementation of measures. Delegated worker protection officers are assigned in accordance with the law and formally appointed by the management. Hazards can be reported and processed using the incident management system, a safety mailbox or the continuous improvement process (CIP). Hazards, risks and opportuni - ties are surveyed and assessed and appropriate actions are subsequently derived in this process. The process involves reporting, incident analysis and the implementation of correc- tive actions. In addition, employees receive regular training and safety briefings.
