How is Gebrüder Weiss reducing its CO 2 emissions? Measures to reduce emissions at Gebrüder Weiss

The transport of goods by truck, rail, ship and plane is the core business of Gebrüder Weiss – and is at the same time the area with the largest lever for reducing emissions. That is why we implement targeted measures to reduce the emissions that are caused during transport. Reducing emissions is not only required by law, but, in an even more positive sign, it is also increasingly and actively requested and supported by our customers. A key starting point here is energy consumption – especially the type of the energy sources that are used. The most im- portant measures include:
― the gradual transition of our truck fleet to alternative drive systems
― the use of HVO100 as a bridging technology ― the expansion of in-house photovoltaic systems ― the complete switch to green electricity in the DACH region – with the goal of also making this switch internationally
The effectiveness of these measures can be measured accu- rately both on an overall basis and for individual shipments. We use EcoTransIT here – the leading international software for automatically calculating energy consumption and green- house gas emissions along complex transport chains.
